Some feedback from the City of Hope Hollywood Gala last week from another site:

“Thought you might be interested in this post on the boards from MissyClayFan, whose father went to the City of Hope gala last Thursday in LA. Especially since there was a major lack of feedback about how the event went.

“Just thought Id share with you guys… My dad was lucky enough to attend the City of Hope event and had the opportunity to see Taylor perform. He was never a fan of American Idol and never watched the show. He used to laugh at me when I would talk about Taylor and would not stop making fun of me about the going to the tour (even though he got me the tickets)
But he said that Taylor was electrifying. He said everyone in the crowd that didn’t know who he was were blown away. They were like “this guy was on American Idol??”
There was a huge mix of industry people, celebs, and business associates at the event. My dad got to meet Josh Groban who he loves, and he also saw Clive Davis is passing. “Very intimidating and powerful man, that Clive.” — dad.
He said it was a very sophisticated party, with lots of expensive champagne and vodka.
The best part. He went right up to Taylor when he got a chance and shook his hand. Told him that he is thrilled he is the winner of that crappy show and will be buying his album! He also mentioned me! lol. He said that his daughter would not stop talking about him.
I can’t believe i’m jealous of my dad.
I asked if he got me an autograph… he just laughed at that. I didn’t appreciate it.
Just thought I’d share though. Taylor’s music has touched so many people. From annoying college girls like me to their frumpy business men fathers.”

I haven’t spoken with them in depth- I haven’t had the time, but they were definitely impressed and they all enjoyed his performance immensely.

DOMINO!?! Oh geez … I love that song so much it makes me crazy every time I hear it. That and GIVE ME A KISS. Now that I think about it, do we have any footage of Taylor singing any Van song?

  6. Jan B. says:

Wow…he looks great! He’s slimmed down quite a bit. I love 5,6,7, and 8, but wishin’ for a little gel or sweat to separate the bangs a bit. I’m literally trying to split hairs now… damn! He’s gorgeous…tan, smiling, gettin’ into it.

  7. Lee says:

I can’t wait to hear Taylor do some Van M. …Domino is one of my favs.

Thuding aside….he is one doll baby, ain’t he?
I can feel him performing just looking at those pictures…kinda eerie.
    He looks groovy and happy.

  8. Phantom says:

These pictures are GORGEOUS. Some of the best performance pics I’ve seen of Taylor yet. Wonder if those Hollywood ladies were swooning or if this is all old hat to them — ha. Hard to imagine there wasn’t some serious thuddage going on.

I don’t get a chance to post much — just in occasional spurts during some spare moments — but I’ve been remiss in not saying thanks enough for this great webiste and the boogie board. Great job, Ash, and these pictures and videos just made my rather weary day!

(By the way, can anyone tell me why the type is so small just in the comments sections of the blog? Can barely read it. Something I should do?)

  10. Orca says:

Gosh these are beautiful photos – thanks Ash.

He looks happy, relaxed and proud.

  11. maryann1 says:

Thanks for the pictures….He looks wonderful,as usual and by looking at the pictures.,…had a great time…..Still waiting to hear the audience feedback….or any videos…..would be nice to see/hear….but knowing Taylor…..I’m sure he impressed everyone with his talent and charisma….

Nice Pictures…..very NICE pictures…oh yeah, did I tell ya the pictures are sooo nice.
    Thank you.

  14. AmyH says:

These pictures are fantastic! Thanks for posting them, Ash.

He looks relaxed and confident and happy. I’ll take performance shots over posed magazine pictures any day. Taylor has so much energy and life in him and the mags just fail to capture that.

    I. Love. Domino!!

  15. MicheleAnn says:

These are wonderful photos. That is a gorgeous guitar. And the fella playing it is not too bad, either, especially in #7.

So the lineup so far seems to be:

    Hell of a Day

Everyday (there are several songs with this title and different lyrics – which artist?)

    Domino

  20. Historia says:

    HE DID DOMINO??????????????????
    The Van Morrison song????????????
    OMG…..where can I see this?????

  21. juliegr says:

DoubleD — where can I get the video?

  22. Cali50 says:

I love that it looks like he’s being Taylor, even in front of all these big shots! Love the looking down at the guitar, profile picture!

    Ash,

Nice surprise to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Like Alice said : “thanks so much for all the sweets to go with my coffee this morning! “

  24. AliceinWonderland says:

Ash, thanks so much for all the sweets to go with my coffee this morning! Numbers 5, 6 and 7 alone would have made my day, but then I get all these extras, too! Looks like he was having a blast. Good for him!

  25. double d says:

From the video, it sounded like he did “Everyday” too.

  26. OSB says:

Really nice shots – thanks, Ash! I wonder what it was like to perform in front of a crowd that wasn’t screaming and singing his songs back to him. I really thought we’d have more feedback on song selections and how the event went, too. Guess we’re just spoiled. ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. A. says:

by the way, you can right-click ‘view image’ to see some of them larger.

This blog layout cuts them off a bit funny.

  29. juliegr says:

Hell of a Day — yea, he’s been playing that one a lot lately. Important to get out to the masses that he writes and play an instrument. Lots of people to educate!! Thanks for the updates

  30. aerinphil says:

i had to laugh because we still don’t have a lead to what songs he sang ๐Ÿ˜€ and i’ll say this again: the guitar looks divine.

  31. A. says:

Hell of a Day and one called “Domino”, I think. I don’t recall the third.

Thanks for the new photos. Yeah, he really was having fun and I’m glad. He had a great tour but I’m sure he’s happy to get down to brass tacks now. No word yet on the reception he got from the audience or journalists????
