JudyA: I’m so sorry that happened to you and your daughters. I brought my 11 year old to Big Flats last Friday and she had a blast. She spoke with Bill a few times and got Taylor’s autograph after the show. I’ve been to two concerts and Taylor was very generous with his time, signing many things at both shows. I’m so sorry! I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better.

  2. Judy A says:

I never thought I would say this – Taylor lost two adult fans in Council Bluffs and broke the heart of two teen girls who simply wanted to see him during his sound check and give him a present they bought. It was their only option considering that of all the places Taylor chose to perform in the Nebraska/Iowa region was a casino bar which required persons to be 21 years of age. The Ameristar sports bar where he was practicing did not have any guards posted at the curtained entrance, had other curtains opened that presented a full view of Taylor performing, and had only one other fan in sight (this woman’s daughter is active duty military in Iraq and had bought her mother a reserved seat to the concert with the slightest hope of getting Taylor’s autograph on her picture to be sent back to Iraq). Having a husband who recently returned from there, I feel her pain and her urgency to making her daughter’s day just a bit more bearable.

So why did Taylor, when seeing me and my daughters hesitantly come in the sound check carrying a present say in the microphone “who are these people” and proceed to whisper something to his manager who then followed my retreating back to bark at me not to go into a sound check again? Why did he do that? If this had been his people who shoved us out, I would have given him the benefit of the doubt. But from Taylor himself??? I will never forget these young girl’s faces when they heard him say that. We certainly did not look dangerous, did not have cameras, did not have paparazzi behind us, heck, there was no other fans in sight. What harm could we have caused by sitting quietly watching him or even taking 30 seconds of his time to graciously accept the gift from my daughter that she so carefully chose? Instead, he caused harm that we will not forget, especially since he gives all the appearances of liking children and appreciating those of us who have bought his wares, making him richer.

Part of me rationalized that perhaps he had a bad day. We all do. However, someone in his position who knows he has the power of either inspiring with a smile or crushing in a manner such as this should do the former. People travel far and wide to SUPPORT him and he is PAID to be there, whereas we are not. Although it is too late to be gracious, I do hope that in the future, Taylor says “I am a bit busy now, please wait for me after” or some such thing. At the very least, his people should clearly mark places off-limits – this did not help my girls from feeling truly rejected and humiliated, but may help others. I hope Taylor’s people schedule him to play where fans of all ages can see his incredible talent. I witnessed that myself the night before and was astounded. Fast forward to today when I was astounded in the opposite way. We left for home after this incident – I do hope that darling red-headed lady who has followed him to 3 concerts got her picture signed. The couple seconds such an act takes goes a long way in the making of a longtime loyal fan – in which Taylor reaps the most benefits.

Bad news…Taylor’s July 1st Savannah Concert has been cancelled

  4. Denise says:

Does anyone know where I can see a set list for Cohasset and Hyannis? Thanks!

  5. DebD says:

FYI-this might be in a recap thread, but I thought I would mention it here. At the Cohasset meet & greet, Taylor told someone to tell us all that after the summer tour, he would be taking several months off from touring to finish writing his second album. WHOOO HOOO!!!

Cohasset and Hyannis were fabulous! I’ll try to find time to submit my recap and thoughts on the boards later today.

  6. Gesch says:

Wow, What is up with the west coast and Taylor not performing here? I got to see him once in Portland, but not seeing anything listed on this new tour. Anyone have a clue?

  7. madaboutu says:

Denise, thank you for a great recap, and all the little details. I am glad you made a fan of your daughter and her friends too. You were lucky to get to a concert. It might be awhile till the next tour.

graciecat, you are welcome and I hope you will get in on some cellcerts. They are alot of fun.

  8. BonnieC says:

Denise, thanks for the great recap. It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

  9. graciecat says:

Madaboutyou, thanks for the info. I will check Tour Recaps and CC thread as they are always so entertaining. Hopefully, I’ll get to listen to a few cellcerts depending on my budget -still saving for those concerts! Smile. I must admit I did get a bit spoiled with the recaps and set lists that used to appear here. Denise, great recap! Thanks for sharing.

  10. Amy says:

Glad you had fun, Denise!!!!!! Did you see Lilolme there?

  11. taylorfan64 says:

Denise, what a great recap; you described it so vividly that it made me feel like I was right there with you. Btw, what gift did you give to Taylor, I can’t make out your code.

  12. Denise says:

I dont’ see an individual thread for Big Flats so I hope it is ok to post my recap here. I posted my recap from Penn’s Peak here back in April but there was an individual thread for it. Sorry if this isn’t the right place but I wanted to share my experience. Here it is:
I was very lucky and was able to attend the Big Flats concert last night. This is my second concert, the first being at Penn’s Peak in PA in April. For those of you who did not read my recap, the very quick version is I had a GREAT time at Penn’s Peak. I met Ted and Bill and passed on a gift to Taylor that I was very excited about. I could not have had a better time. I attended that concert with just a friend of mine. We drove about 4 hours and stayed over. It was amazing and I loved every second of it.

This concert was being held almost exactly 2 hours from my house. When I heard about the concert, I decided to ask my 11 year old daughter to go with me. I also asked a good friend of mine and her 12 year old daughter. I won’t lie, the girls were not overly excited to go to a Taylor Hicks concert. They wanted to go to A concert, ANY concert so they agreed to go. I bought tickets from the venue and ended up with general admission tickets which I was not pleased with. But, what could I do, they were bought and paid for. I knew that I wanted to be there early because with the tickets we had we were going to have to make a dash to the front to get a good place to put our chairs. We did get there early. In fact, I might have been the 2nd car in the parking area. We knew we would be early so the two girls and I brought our softball gloves and walked over to the other side of the buses where there was an open field. There was a small creek and a bunch of trees between the buses and the field we were playing in. As we were playing catch I saw Taylor walk by on his way to the stage. I told the girls that I had just seen him. They didn’t believe me. When he walked back by I yelled his name and waved. He waved back and the girls were instantly excited. When we were on our way back to the other side to get in line, I saw Bill over by the bus. I motioned for him to come over and when he did I said “Hi Bill, we met at Penn’s Peak” and he said “oh yeah you’re the girl that gave us the #$%&*!@. Naming my gift. I said “yup, that was me” and he said “Those were awesome”. I handed him a package and he asked me if there were more of the same in the package, which I confirmed. He thanked me and headed for the bus.

After we got our seats we settled in for the show. The opening act was Ok. Nothing special and actually a little boring. But, hey whatever I wasn’t there to see the opening act anyway. Taylor comes out and does a FANTASTIC show. Really, I mean I had the best time at Penn’s Peak but this concert ROCKED! The music was great, the outside atmosphere was great and I just loved, loved, loved it! I seriously could attend a concert every single day and not get sick of it. There was a town fair going on across the road and at one point they started letting off fireworks. Taylor took it in stride and even made a joke that he had bought the fireworks for us, getting them at a discount. He also pointed out when the finale was happening during one of his songs. He is just adorable! Some artists would have been mad that there was something competing for his attention, but not Taylor! As I said, the show ROCKED! After the show, we took our chairs back to my car and walked our daughters over to the bus because they were hoping to get his autograph. They both got autographs and were very excited. I think he might have made 2 new fans. I even saw my daughter signing JTFTW when Taylor was singing. When Taylor was signing their papers, I said to him “Taylor I brought you some more #@$%^&* and he looked up at me and said “I really appreciate that, thank you” and I said “you’re welcome, I hope you like them.” I can’t believe how much Taylor appreciates everything that we do for him. I saw it on his face when he thanked me. I’ve seen him wear hats and shirts that were given to him as gifts. I’ve heard him talk about scrapbooks (who could forget the “we be plain” video, right). I’ve also seen him show off pictures that people are showing him. I feel like I’m gushing, but I just cannot get over how humble and appreciative Taylor Hicks is of everything that he has and also every little thing that is still being given to him. The fact that he can Rock a crowd and then a few minutes later come over to a crowd of people and make small talk and accept gifts so graciously really makes me proud to be a Taylor Hicks fan. And, he should be proud of himself. Somebody raised that boy right!

I have 2 regrets from an otherwise perfect night. #1, I had the chance to chitty chat with Bill for a few minutes later on and I asked if he would take a picture with me. So, I asked one of the security guys to take the picture. He couldn’t figure out how to use my camera and as I stepped forward to show him and explain it to him, he took the picture (I look like the biggest dork you ever did see! J Nice picture of Bill though!! Now, if I can just figure out how to crop myself out of the picture J) I guess that’s why you don’t ask to have your picture taken with someone who usually takes the pictures. Regret #2 I desperately was hoping to get good pictures of Taylor on stage so I could pass them on, and that didn’t happen. I was too far back and the lights just wreck havoc on my pictures. Of course when we were out by the buses the batteries were dead in my camera. I got a few pictures with my cell phone, but I don’t know how to transfer them from my phone to my computer. So…..It was a SUPER great time and I LOVED every second of it!

  13. Amy says:

Happy Saturday everyone! Ah, it is evident we are already in the spirit of the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Where is everyone? Where’s the set list from last night? Recaps?? Maybe I should write one. Sorry. No time right now I’m off to the beach. Was that a great concert last night or was that a great concert last night? That’s all I have to say for now. Looking forward to this evening’s concert.

What a fantastic ride Taylor is taking us on….
It sure is fun traveling with him.
I rushed home from work to watch the NA….he was GREAT!

  28. juliegr says:

Wow, what a difference a year makes in the Taylor Hicks Chroncals. When he said he was living his dream, he wasn’t kidding! Travelling around the country in his own tour bus, performing before appreciative crowds, meeting sports and entertainment greats , appearing on TV, making a living as a working musician/artist, earning MONEY, and playing golf as time allows.

No wonder he looks like a kid in a candy store.

Good luck tonight in Big Flats, Taylor. I know you’ll knock ’em dead!

  29. Lubiana says:

I enjoyed the National Anthem immensely! He sang it even better than at the Nascar Race! He looked gorgeous too. Hey, I’m so enjoying that Compared to What Blog! Think it could be the next big Taylor blog?

  30. BonnieC says:

Yes indeed- Taylor sounded great tonight at the NBA finals!!!

  31. Kenzie says:

i think he’s gonna do some sort of blogging again maybe… but maybe not for Taylor? Who knows… I’m just theorizing.. don’t believe everything I may say, lol.

  32. georgie says:

Has anyone hit “Gray” to see what happens? I don’t get it.

  33. georgie says:

Taylor did a great job on the national anthem tonight at the NBA finals. The crowd went wild for him.

  34. Kenzie says:

    um.. hi!
The Summer shows should be just as amazing as the first, he’ll do some classics I bet. ;]

Lol, I’m hopefully going to the concert next week in Council Bluffs. I’m workin on getting tickets, which shouldn’t be to hard, but I’m not quite old enough to go in. Anyone going here that could possibly escort me and a friend through?

  35. dusty says:

Looking forward to the summer tour…what new songs might we hear?
